Living in the World of Rs and Babies

Welcome, Rebeca! February 2016
I have a baby sister.
She came home the other day.
I counted all her fingers
And wanted her to play.

But all she did was lay there.
Sometimes she cooed and smiled.
I guess I'll hold her as I wait--
it's going to take a while.

Writers live in a world of Rs--reading, recording, revisions, rewrites, reviews, research...

Moms, following the arrival of a new little one, live in a world of Rs, too--receiving, recuperating, recharging, resting (ha, really?), rejoicing...

Writers who are grandmas as well also live in a world of Rs--rejoicing X 6 (for this grandma, anyway), remembering, relishing, recharged, rejuvenated, reaping rewards...

Can you tell? I'm grandma to grandbaby #6 and loving it. Welcome to our world, baby Rebeca!

Just taking a moment to review the recent week and reflecting on the wonder of it all.

Any good news you'd like to share?

  1. Congratulations on your new grand baby! Love all your R's - is that to match Rebeca's name? (So glad it wasn't Quentin or Xavier!) :-)

I have no news that can match the joy of a new baby. But I've been there and remember what it's like. Incomparable!

  2. Thanks, Peggy--and yes, I played with -r words with Rebeca's name in mind :-) I remember some of the stories you've told about your grandchildren, how you write stories with them and are inspired by them. So I know you understand the thrill of being grandma, too! Wishing you a great rest of the week. Thanks for dropping in!

    1. Thanks, Writing Nut--the little one is pretty special, that's for sure :-) And happy for your friend. Hope all is going well for her. Everything is new with a new baby, but especially when it's the first!

  6. Hi Kenda - Rebecca looks sweet - while the poem is glorious ... at that age - when can she play?! The sooner the better ... I love them when they're this age - I met my Godson's two at the weekend .. 3 and a half and 18 months ... two boys ... they will be fun! But far away .. cheers Hilary

  7. You're so clever!

I also have a new grandbaby. He was born three weeks early, on Feb 21. His name is Ian Chavez and he's a cute little monkey!

Weighed 6 lb 3 oz. If I can talk my daughter into allowing me to post about it, I will do so, however, she's reluctant about blogs and Facebook and so on, and so I will respect her privacy. Unless she gives me the green light.

There is some other good news about my granddaughter who is in the hospital, and I did post about that.

  8. Cathy, congratulations on your new addition. I bet baby Ian is adorable! As for your little granddaughter, I just read your post about the extensive surgery she is scheduled for. Our prayers are with her in the days ahead. Please take care and know your blogging friends are thinking of you :-)
