I'm not sure I agree with giving kids strange dreams. Guess it depends on how you define "strange." I'd rather hear that a book inspired creative dreams. Anyway, regardless of the genre we write, I expect "robust criticism" is a good thing.

(Great to see you on Saturday, Kenda!)Peggy Harkinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15606792382935763886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134040229227913313.post-29632317174163993712011-11-06T18:37:18.762-05:002011-11-06T18:37:18.762-05:00There is just too much great stuff on your site, K...There is just too much great stuff on your site, Kendra! On the other hand, there are MG, YA, and adult books that do that, too. There are definitely still stunning examples of incredible picture books. The kind that create a huge impact. I kind of like the line, "We need a more robust criticism to keep us original." That's true in all genres and age groups as well. Picture books are not to be taken lightly. Is it any wonder that, years after growing up (and I realize that's a relative term), we still think fondly of picture books we were read at the age of 5. Five years old! That's crazy! And such a gift. Sorry to get long-winded, but this touches my heart this morning~ I'm doing early X-mas shopping for my little one, and I'm building her collection of picture books. Thanks, Kenda!Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14121018905141253640noreply@blogger.com
